What this extension does

Takealot Price History is a browser extension that shows a price-history chart on Takealot product pages, so you can tell whether a current price is a genuine deal, and optionally emails you when a price drops.

What we collect

• Product page data (sent to our backend). When you visit a Takealot product page, the extension reads that page's product ID, title, price, currency, URL, and (when available) barcode, and sends it to our backend to build price history. It also reads related products shown in that page's own "You Might Also Like"-style widgets, so their prices can be tracked too.
• The current tab's URL/title (read locally only). When you open the extension's toolbar popup, it reads the active tab's URL and title to show you whether that page is a trackable product and, if so, its name. This is read directly in your browser to render the popup and is never sent anywhere.
• Your existing Takealot session, for one specific request. The requests the extension makes to Takealot's own recommendation API (to find related products) are sent with your browser's existing Takealot login session attached — the same way the page's own requests are, so it can see the same personalized results you would. We do not read, store, or transmit your session or cookie data ourselves; it's sent directly from your browser to Takealot's servers, not through us.
• Email address — only if you opt in. If you use the "Notify me at a lower price" feature, we store the email you provide, tied to the product and the alert condition you chose (a specific target price, or "below the average price").

What we don't collect

Health information, financial or payment information, account credentials/authentication data, personal communications, your location, or general activity tracking (clicks, scrolling, keystrokes) beyond what's needed to read the product data above and the one form you can optionally submit.

How we use this data

Solely to power the extension's two features: showing you a price-history chart, and — if you opt in — emailing you when a price drops. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the infrastructure providers needed to run the service (below).

Third-party services

The backend runs on Cloudflare Workers with Cloudflare D1 for storage. Price-drop alert emails are sent via Resend. Neither is used for any purpose beyond operating this extension.

Data retention

Price history is kept indefinitely to build a useful long-term chart. Alert registrations are kept until the alert fires and isn't renewed, or until you ask us to remove them.

Data security

All data is sent over HTTPS. Storage and processing run on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Workers and D1), which we rely on for the underlying network and physical security of that data — see Cloudflare's trust and security documentation. We don't run our own servers.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to tell you what data we hold tied to your email address, correct it, or delete it (e.g. removing a price-drop alert registration). Contact us using the details below and we'll action it directly in our database.

Children's privacy

This extension is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect data from, children under 13.
